When will the 6 month period begin and end?

I will begin the 6 month timer  as soon as  $1000 is raised. As long as $1000/ month is added to the “Scott A Rivers Writing Pool” I’ll be able to continue full-time.

I will continue as long as I can stretch my budget. It really depends on what goes on with my visa, health, computer, and Lay’s business expenses that I take on.

I will update the dates and times as I know. In a monthly email.

Can I read something now? or when you finish?

That is the toughest question. Yes and No. No, you can’t read anything now. I don’t really like anyone reading anything until I’m ready to face constructive criticism. I get into a good flow for writing and like to keep it going. Editing and publishing hats are quite different.

Yes, You will definitely have access to some writings when I’m ready. You may not like one title, but love the next one, so bear with me.

Are you going to look for jobs?

That completely depends on how much time I can buy. I’d rather live humbly and write, than work, make a bunch of money and not have time to write. I want to write.. Right Now!

To be totally honest, I’m not sure if I can handle a real job right now. After my last injury I haven’t been as good dealing with stress and people. It comes and goes. But I did grow more concerned when I kept getting sick. 

I do great on my own. I stay motivated and continually learn and work. 

I will spend a small amount of time updating my blog: www.idealtimes.com. This will allow me to keep learning about the online community. 

What if you get a job?

Again, Ideally I won’t need to look during the 6 month time frame. Hopefully the world will become a little safer by then.

Sometimes, work finds us. If it were the right opportunity I will contact everyone on the list. Likely I would extend the deadline.  Even if it takes a little longer I would still produce. Writing is my dream.

What if you don’t finish anything?

I will finish something. I don’t know if you’ll like it, but hopefully, you’d like the next one.

What are your expenses?

My biggest expense is rent. In Myanmar, it is common to pay 6 months to 1 year upfront for an apartment. Our plan was to buy an apartment, but we’ve had to hold off on that dream for now.

I also have business visa and various legal expenses to live in Myanmar legally which can be incredibly frustrating and expensive. It is nice to work with an agent, however, I have done it by myself

After that personal and computer health expenses.

I spend some time and expenses supporting my wife’s company,  www.tiladesigns.co She has made incredible progress, but this too will take time.

We help support Lay’s mother as well. She lives humbly and greatly appreciates a little extra every month. Some day we hope to rebuild her little house. For now keeping the rain out and electricity on is enough.

1-3 Golf Rounds a month for a whopping $30-$100/month. It is still taking some time to get used to living in a city. I need the fresh air of the golf course to keep my mind right and creative juices flowing.

Swimming Pool Membership $50/month. This is the most necessary expense. Without swimming nothing works. My body still works despite its many miles, but it needs some general maintenance.

Why not work?

I’m available for a good people or project management job, however, most of the offers are for teaching. I’m a good teacher, yet I seem to catch every new sickness the students bring in. That’s not a good thing during COVID.

What if I die?

Hahaha. Sorry about that. I will leave instructions to send out my apologies and if the writings are readable will ask that something is sent your way. In many ways, the idea of dying is what motivates me to write. But, I have no intentions or any reason to believe that I won’t be around for quite some time.

What if I become successful as a writer?

Hahaha again, I’m not sure if this or the question before is more likely to happen. I’d be happy when I finish the projects and get some good feedback.  I am due for some good luck. I would love to make my living writing – that is my goal.
